EDWARD and FRANCES DELAINE

21 years ago I bought a new R170 SLK – my first Mercedes which I still own, and shortly after I joined The Mercedes-Benz Club as a joint member with my wife Frances. We have since added a 1989 (pre-facelift) W124 260E in 2007 and a W905 Sprinter motorhome in 2013, both still in our possession. All three Mercedes are in regular use, with the motorhome regularly topping the annual mileage league table. We have been on extensive travels across Europe, having visited twenty four countries so far. We retired some years ago to Hampshire, but only just, being only half a mile from the Dorset border. Over the years we have attended numerous regional and national events and several Club foreign trips. Taking up the role of R170 MRC jointly with David Schofield I aim to promote the status of the original (and at the time ground-breaking) SLK within the club and be a focus for fellow R170 owners and potential owners. I am confident that with our varied R170 ownership experiences David and I can field any question which current or soon to be R170 enthusiasts send our way. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible in the coming weeks and months.
